The Chief Personnel Officer (CPO), Commander Dr. Dindial, welcomed a high-level delegation of Zimbabwean government officials to the Personnel Department’s headquarters on August 5, 2025. The official visit was led by Mr. Steyn Berejena, Chief Director in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Public Sector Reforms and Performance Management Department of Zimbabwe.

Facilitated in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, the visit aimed to promote mutual learning and the exchange of best practices in public sector governance. Discussions centred on administrative strategies that could be adapted to enhance Zimbabwe’s own governance and institutional frameworks.

Commander Dr. Dindial, supported by senior members of his executive team, delivered a series of comprehensive presentations covering several key areas of public administration in Trinidad and Tobago. Topics included:

• The frameworks and objectives underpinning the public service;
• The role of technology in improving service delivery, transparency, and citizen engagement;
• Legislative reforms supporting administrative modernization;
• Planning and budgeting reforms aimed at ensuring fiscal responsibility and efficiency.

The presentations were designed to offer practical insights into policy measures that have demonstrated effectiveness in the Trinidad and Tobago context insights that could support policy development and implementation in Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwean delegation expressed deep appreciation for the engagement, noting that several of the policy initiatives and administrative practices discussed were highly relevant and could be tailored to fit their national priorities. They highlighted the value of Trinidad and Tobago’s experiences in informing their own ongoing public sector reforms.

The visit not only reinforced the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’s commitment to regional and international cooperation but also marked a significant step toward enhanced bilateral relations with Zimbabwe. The exchange underscored the importance of knowledge transfer and sustained collaboration in the pursuit of improved governance and institutional development.
