CPO Meets NUGFW’s New Executive, Pays Homage to Former President
On November 13th, 2024, the Chief Personnel Officer (CPO), Commander Dr. Daryl Dindial, held a pivotal meeting with the newly elected Executive of the National Union of Government and Federated Workers (NUGFW), led by President Christopher Streete. The meeting, which took place at the Office of the Personnel Department, marked a significant step in building and strengthening the relationship between the Department and the Union’s new leadership.
During the session, Commander Dindial extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected Executive team. He also took a moment to pay tribute to the leadership of former President General, Mr. James Lambert, who served the NUGFW with unwavering dedication for sixteen years. Acknowledging Mr. Lambert’s immense contributions to the labour movement in Trinidad and Tobago, Commander Dindial spoke highly of his visionary leadership and tireless advocacy for workers’ rights, which significantly contributed to the strengthening of the Union.
As the CPO prepares for the upcoming 2020-2022 wage negotiations, which are set to begin in mid-November 2024, he emphasised the importance of engaging with the newly elected NUGFW Executive early in the process. The upcoming negotiations will be a key focus for both the Department and the Union, and Commander Dindial underlined the need for open dialogue and transparency as both sides work towards a fair and productive outcome.
