Celebrating Success of the Personnel Department Second Annual Three-Day Vacation Camp
The Personnel Department (Office of the Chief Personnel Officer) proudly reflects on the success of its second annual Three-Day Vacation Camp, a vibrant initiative dedicated to the children and relatives of staff members. Held from August 7th to 9th, 2024, the camp offered a diverse program thoughtfully curated to balance fun and learning, showcasing the Chief Personnel Officer’s (CPO) commitment to creating enriching opportunities for the fifty children who participated.
The CPO, emphasised the importance of incorporating music, art, and visits to significant institutions like the Parliament and the Industrial Court of Trinidad and Tobago. These elements were crucial in delivering a well-rounded educational experience. Exploring these institutions, the children gained valuable insights into the operations of the Parliament and Industrial Court, deepening their understanding of their parents’ roles within the Personnel Department.
Kicking off the camp was a collaborative art workshop with the Art Society of Trinidad and Tobago, featuring professional artists Ms. Chenelle Maharaj and Ms. Chantal Quamina. This engaging session introduced campers aged 4 to 13 to professional-level artistic skills and techniques, igniting their creativity and passion for the arts.
Music played a central role in the camp, with Mr. Emmanuel leading an interactive session that allowed the children to connect with Trinidad and Tobago's rich musical heritage through its national instrument, the Steel Pan. This unique opportunity not only entertained but also educated the campers about the cultural significance of music in their homeland.
Dr. Dindial expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Art Society of Trinidad and Tobago, the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago, and the staff of the Industrial Court for their exceptional contributions in ensuring the campers were fully engaged throughout the event. He noted that the camp's success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of The Personnel Department’s staff. Their commitment to creating a supportive and engaging environment was evident, ensuring that every child had a memorable and impactful experience.
As the camp concluded, the smiles and laughter of the participants echoed the success of this initiative, setting a positive precedent for future events. The Personnel Department looks forward to continuing this tradition, providing enriching experiences that foster creativity, knowledge, and community among the families of its dedicated staff.
