PD heightens employee awareness on Personal Safety
Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police and Prisons services participated in a two (2) day All Staff, Safety Awareness Session under the patronage of our Chief Personnel Officer, Cdr. Dr. Daryl Dindial, at the offices of the Personnel Department, No. 3 Alexandra Street, St Clair. The event was geared towards imparting valuable information on personal safety techniques and tips related to keeping safe when in public and private spaces, and applying simple practices when faced with potentially dangerous and life-threatening scenarios, which have been prevalent and negatively impacting on the lives of citizens.
Kick-starting the event, Prison Officers Brain Caruth and Knolly Jack from the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service delivered an exceedingly informative and interactive presentation which offered the department’s staff members valuable takeaways on personal safety techniques and tips related to remaining aware of their surroundings at all times. Inspector Gusheir Grant and Corporal Kevin Greenidge of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) offered an equally interactive and informative take on safety in their presentation, where they provided examples of real-life crime incidents and noteworthy approaches to personal safety with direct references to the applied use of technology (e.g. using your phone etc.) as a safety technique. In this light, they also spoke about the applied use of technology to support the crime-fighting efforts of the Police Service.
The initiative was co-ordinated by the Communications/Events Communications Unit with the assistance of Mr. Patrick Sylvester (PD Security Officer) based on the advice of the Chief Personnel Officer, Cdr. Dr. Daryl Dindial.
